Maryland State Inspection

Cottman of Waldorf is the reliable choice for Maryland State vehicle inspections in Waldorf, MD. We are an authorized inspection center and can properly perform your required state inspection when you need it. The Maryland state safety inspection will consist of our ASE certified technicians checking and testing various different components and safety features of your vehicle to make sure that they work properly and are up to state standards.

The MVA (Maryland Vehicle Administration) requires a vehicle inspection if you’ve just moved to Maryland and your vehicle is registered in another state, if you just bought a used car, or you received a used vehicle as a gift or inheritance. If you are about to transfer or sell your vehicle, as the seller you will be required to obtain the inspection certificate. The buyer or receiver will then submit the inspection certificate to the MVA in order to properly register the vehicle.

In order to obtain an inspection certificate, you must have your vehicle inspected at an authorized safety inspection station in Maryland. Here at Cottman of Waldorf, we are an authorized inspection center in Waldorf MD and are here to assist when you need to have an inspection completed.

Before your vehicle can receive an inspection, it will need to be properly registered either in Maryland or in another state. If you aren’t able to register the vehicle because it hasn’t received the safety inspection, you can contact MVA to try and qualify for a 30 day temporary inspection which will allow you to have the inspection performed at our shop. If you are a new resident in Maryland, you have 60 days to get your vehicle inspected and registered. If you’ve just purchased a used vehicle, you have 90 days to do so.

After our mechanics complete your vehicle’s safety inspection, we will provide you with a report that shows the parts that were inspected and whether or not they passed inspection. If one or more parts fail the safety inspection, the issue(s) will need to be repaired before you receive your inspection certificate. Our professional auto repair shop can take care of these needed repairs and re-inspect your vehicle once the repairs are completed.
